Вот тут есть иная точка зрения:

The USA made history with the election of Barack Obama as the first African-American president. While race is no longer an issue in the US, there is no denying the fact that once upon a time, prejudice and discrimination existed. This is why, in the early years, any achievement made by an African-American – or any other biracial person for that matter – was considered a significant milestone.
The result of the elections got me thinking about African-American milestones in US Navy history. Perhaps the most famous are the achievements of Master Chief Carl Brashear and Navy SEAL Fred “Tiz” Morrison.
Master Chief Carl Brashear inspired Cuba Gooding Jr.’s movie “Men of Honor”. He was the first African-American US Navy Master Diver. He was not the first African-American US Navy Diver, but he was the first to attend the US Navy Diving and Salvage School and the first to attain the status of Master Diver. He was also the first amputee to be reinstated in the US Navy Divers.
Back then, Fred “Tiz” Morrison was part of what were called the Frogmen, members of the Underwater Demolition Team which fathered what we know now as the US Navy SEALs. He was a veteran of the Second World War and was part of the UDT Team 1 in 1948. His official rank is US Navy Ensign 2, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star during the Korean War as part of UDT Team 12. There is little information on the life of Tiz Morrison. He has since passed on, but he will always be remembered as the first African-American Navy SEAL.
Change has come. Race is no longer an issue. It does not matter whether you are African-American, Asian-American or Euro-American. When your bond is service, honor and courage, do you really need to look at anything else?
